Welcome to the South East Careers and Try a Trade Expo! As SELLEN’s flagship annual event, we’ve been connecting exhibitors from universities, TAFEs, RTOs, community service organizations, and industry with eager students since 2009.
Our mission? To empower the next generation with knowledge, inspiration, and practical skills for their future careers.
Our humble beginnings at the Berwick Show Ground saw just 250 students walk through our doors. But from those small seeds, a mighty oak has grown. Over the years, more than 31,000 people have explored the opportunities that await them beyond the classroom.

WHAT TO EXPECT
With over 120 exhibitors and 6,500 students, we’re proud to host the largest careers event in Victoria, outside of the CBD. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Diverse Exhibitors: Our expo brings together universities, TAFEs, RTOs, community service organizations, and industry leaders. They’re all here to engage with local secondary school students. Whether you’re curious about higher education, vocational training, or specific industries, our exhibitors have the answers.
- Hands-On Activities: Learning by doing is our motto. Get your hands dirty (figuratively and literally) with interactive activities. From virtual reality simulations to carpentry workshops, you’ll discover new skills and passions.
- Exploring Uncharted Territories: Ever wondered what it’s like to be a marine mechanic, an engineer, or data technician? Our expo introduces you to occupations you may never have considered. Who knows? Your dream career might be waiting around the corner.
- Manufacturing Matters: Local manufacturers take center stage. They’ll show you that the manufacturing industry is thriving in our region. From precision engineering to innovative production methods, you’ll see firsthand how they contribute to our community.
- Guidance and Decision: Making: Choosing your path after school can be daunting. That’s why we’ve assembled a comprehensive range of training providers. Talk to them, ask questions, and find the post-school option that suits you best.
- Fun and Food: Because learning should be enjoyable! A variety of food trucks add an extra layer of excitement. Grab a snack, chat with fellow students, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere.
